On April 27, 2009 at approximately 1236 hours Company 6 was alerted for the reported working shed fire. Engine 61 and Chief 6B quickly responded with 2 personnel. Shortly thereafter, Tanker 6 responded driver only and Rescue Engine 62 responded driver only. Engine 61 layed out from the intersection of High Avenue and Piedmont Drive. Engine 61 arrived on scene with a brush fire to the rear of the residence, with exposure to two sheds. Chief 6B established the Cobb Island Command and with the exception of Engine 143 and Rescue Squad 10, had the remainder of the unit's stage and the Cobb Island Market. Engine 61 pulled the 150ft. bumper line and started to extinguish the bulk of the fire. Tanker 6 picked up engine 61's line and established a water supply. Engine 143 arrived on scene and pulled a 200ft. crosslay and assisted Engine 61 crew with fire suppression. Rescue Squad 10 arrived on scene on side A of the house and assisted with the overhaul. After the fire was under control, Command held Engine 61, Engine 143, and Rescue Squad 10, and placed the remainder of the units in service. Command started forestry for the investigation due to the fire starting from a brush fire in the woods. Units operating on Piedmont Drive were held for approximately 1 hour. Engine 61 returned to service remaining on scene awaiting forestry. Total estimated fire loss was about $1,000.
