On Saturday July 26, 2008 the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services & Auxiliary held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new state of the art Fire/EMS Station. This is the start of a new beginning after a long awaited time of hard work and dedication by members of our department. This project has been in the works since 2000.

The department had several representatives from the County and surrounding communities during this ceremony. Representing the County Commissioners were Mr. Wayne Cooper, President and Mr. Sam Graves, District 5 Commissioner. Representing the civic associations for the neighboring communities were Mrs. Charlotte Sampson, President of the Cobb Island Citizens Association and Mrs. Mary Lilly representing Swann Point.

The Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services awarded the bid for the new station to W. M. Davis. W. M. Davis is a well-known General Contractor in the tri-county area. The new station is approximately 15,000 square feet of office space, living space and drive through bays to house the departments Fire/EMS apparatus.
