| On October 17, 2026, at the American Legion in La Plata, one of our own, Ed Robertson, was honored with a beautiful, handmade Quilt of Valor in recognition of his service to our country. What made this occasion even more special was the significance of the date. October 17 marked the anniversary of the day Ed entered the United States Air Force in 1963. He proudly served our nation for four years, from 1963 to 1967. What is a Quilt of Valor? The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Their motto says it all: One Nation. One Mission. A Quilt of Valor® is a quality, handmade quilt, carefully crafted and awarded to a service member or veteran who has been touched by war. It is more than a quilt; it is a tangible expression of gratitude that says, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” Each Quilt of Valor must meet specific requirements, including size, labeling, and registration. Most importantly, it is formally awarded in honor of the recipient’s service and sacrifice. As of October 17, 2026, more than 200,000 Quilts of Valor have been awarded to service members and veterans across the nation. Congratulations, Ed, on this well-deserved honor! Thank you for your dedication, your service, and your sacrifice in defending our freedom. Thank you for your service, Ed! |
