The membership, family, and friends of the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services and Auxiliary would like to express deepest sympathy in regards to the lives lost as a result of the crash of Trooper 2 on September 28, 2008.

Late night on September 27th the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to respond to a motor vehicle collision on Smallwood Drive. The collision resulted in the ground transport of two patients to Civista Medical Center and the air transport of two patients to the local trauma center via Maryland State Police Trooper 2. During flight to the trauma center, due to unsafe weather conditions, Trooper 2 was rerouted to Andrew's Air Force Base to meet with ground units for the remainder of the patient transport. While in flight to Andrew's, communication was lost with Trooper 2. After a search, Tooper 2 was located at Walker Mill Regional Park in Prince George's County. Pronounced dead on the scene were the Pilot, Flight Paramedic, EMT Aide, and one of the two patients. The cause of the crash is unknown and an investigation is being conducted.

Our deepest condolences to the Maryland State Police, Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, and the families of those we have lost.
