🚨 First Rescue for Rescue Boat 6! 🚨 |
April 28, 2025 | |
This morning, we officially placed Rescue Boat 6 in service — and it didn’t take long for it to make a difference! Earlier this evening, Rescue Boat 6 responded to a report of a capsized vessel near the Wicomico Shores Boat Ramp. Fully staffed with a trained Boat Operator and three Surface Water Rescue Technicians, our crew arrived on scene and quickly located the overturned vessel. They safely rescued the single occupant from the water, brought them aboard, and provided patient care en route to shore. Upon reaching land, the occupant was turned over to St. Mary’s County EMS for further evaluation. Rescue Boat 6 also provided incident information to both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Maryland Natural Resources Police to assist with follow-up investigation and vessel recovery operations. While Rescue Boat 6 was operating on the water, additional EMS crews remained fully staffed at our station, ready to serve our citizens without interruption. Today’s rescue highlights the dedication of the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department & EMS to providing professional, rapid response to any emergency — on land or water. Thank you to our volunteers who continue to answer the call, anytime, anywhere! #CIVFD #RescueBoat6 #VolunteerFireService #WaterRescue #AlwaysReady #CommunityFirst |
