The Cobb Island VFD and EMS submitted for a grant to replace all of our out dated and no longer serviceable AED’s. The goal was to replace all 9 AED’s that we have on our apparatus and in our station.

MIEMSS awarded a 50/50 Matching Grant for new AED’s to help with the replacement of our old devices.

“We are pleased to announce that your request for a Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) Cardiac Devices Grant toward the purchase of (7), Philips Heartstart FRx has been approved. MIEMSS has awarded your company up to $5,250.00.”

The grant only covered 7 out of the 9 AED’s that needed to be replaced.

The CIVFD Auxiliary generously offered to purchase the 2 remaining AED’s needed. The CIVFD Auxiliary purchased the 2 AED’s at approximately $3,000.00 and presented them to the department Chief officers at the Auxiliary’s monthly meeting. The 2 AED’s that are located within the building in our Engine Bay and Training Room were originally purchased and donated by the Auxiliary in 2012.

We would like to Thank MIEMSS for the grant funds as well as the CIVFD Auxiliary for their donation of AED’s.
