Members Re-certify as Emergency Medical Technicians

Several Members from our department, along with members from other surrounding departments participated recently in the required Emergency Medical Technician refresher course. This course is required by the state to re-certify every three years.

The refresher class ensures EMT’s keep up on the basic skills and knowledge to treat patients during 911 incidents.

Below is the EMT refresher course information from the MFRI website.

Course Objective: To provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to fulfill the requirements for EMT recertification.

Course Description: Major topics covered in the course are Maryland medical protocols for EMS providers, preparatory, airway, patient assessment, medical and behavioral situations, trauma situations, and emergency obstetrics: childbirth and infants and children. Methods of instruction include, lecture, discussion and team-focused practical exercises.

Continuing Education: Continuing Education: This course provides the 24 hours of continuing education requirement for Emergency Medical Technician certification.
