Today the Cobb Island Bridge was officially dedicated to our own Volunteer Firefighter Christopher A. Staley. The bridge dedication comes three years after Chris lost his life trying to save a swimmer in distress who also passed after drowning in the waters of the Wicomico River. Chris’s passing has since been ruled a death in the line of duty. The bridge dedication ceremony was attended by several local politicians and members of Fire and EMS departments. The dedication concluded with an unveiling of the sign that stands on Cobb Island Road. The bridge dedication will forever remind us of the sacrifice that Chris made to attempt to save someone else. A special thanks goes out to Past Chief Eddie Godwin, the Maryland Department of State Roads, Mr. Gary Simpson and Mr. Ian Beam for the ideas and support with bringing this project to completion.

Rest in Peace Chris. We will never forget.
