On January 30, 2014, volunteers from Cobb Island and Newburg VFD’s attended a company drill together at Station 6. The topic of the drill was ice water rescue emergencies. All got an opportunity through power point lecture and practical exercise to learn the basic concepts of ice water rescue and treatment of patients suffering from hypothermia. The responders learned to identify the hazards of ice water emergencies and the need for specialized equipment. The review included the donning of the Ice Commander, ice rescue suits. Cobb Island VFD has four Ice Commander Suits, to meet rescue and back up team requirements.

Cobb Island VFD would like to thank the Volunteers from Newburg VFD, Company 14, for attending. All are working great together to build better relationships one day at a time. In all there were 37 responders in attendance.
