On Sunday October 19th, we were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer and one reported ejected from the vehicle. The MVC was in the area of Banks O’Dee Rd and Rock Point Rd in Company 14’s first due. RE62 was dispatched as the first due extrication unit because of RE141 and RS10 being out of service. RE62 responded with 5 personnel and A68 responded with 2 personnel. Units arrived to find a tractor in the woods and a vehicle that had been struck from behind in the middle of the road. The driver of the tractor fled from the scene and the driver of the car was transported with minor BLS injuries. The diesel fuel saddle tanks ruptured on the truck and were leaking. Hazmat Company 16 arrived and pumped off the fuel to limit any additional harm to the environment. RE62 stood by on scene providing lighting. Station 6 maintained an additional crew of 5 personnel at the station during the incident.

Units: Rescue Engine 62, Ambulance 68
